Conversation creates the work

Tasks often begin as a sentence in chat: a customer asked for a change, someone found a problem, or the team agreed on a next step. The workflow breaks when that sentence never becomes visible work.

Decide what the message represents

Before creating a task, identify whether the message is a decision, an action, or a question. A decision belongs in the brief. An action belongs in the brief and may also need a task. A question stays visible until someone resolves it.

Give action an owner and state

A task needs one clear owner and a current stage. Ready, Doing, Blocked, Review, and Done are usually enough for a small team to understand progress.

Preserve the connection

Keep a link to the original message so the assignee can recover the context without asking everyone to repeat it. Tandello’s Mission Board is designed around that connection.
