A brief should reduce uncertainty

A useful project brief tells the team what has been decided, what happens next, and what is still unclear. It does not need to reproduce every message or become a polished report.

The minimum useful structure

For many small projects, three sections are enough.

  • Decisions that define the direction.
  • Next steps with an owner and due date when one exists.
  • Open questions that could change the plan.

Write for the person returning later

Use a complete sentence and enough context to stand on its own. “Friday” is not a useful decision. “Launch the customer preview on Friday” is.

Keep the language direct. A teammate should understand an item without rereading the whole channel.

Keep it close to the work

A brief becomes stale when it lives far away from the conversation. Tandello keeps each brief inside its channel and links saved items back to their source.
